OnePoint Global adds an intelligent Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature to its survey app

OnePoint Global adds intelligent Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to its survey App enhancing its best-of-breed mobile survey software. The company’s My Surveys App is available free to Market Research agencies and brand owners of all sizes. The new in-App feature reads text within images and can trigger new surveys or question sets based on keywords within till receipts or product labels. The text can be stored more efficiently than image files and can be extracted for further processing or analysis, delivering granular data direct to the researcher’s desktop about when, where and by whom products are being purchased.

The My Surveys App allows respondents to take surveys on or offline and lets them view or capture video, photo or audio clips whilst serving them highly tailored questionnaires based on location data, keywords and timing. The combination of geolocation triggering, OCR and keywords is unique to OnePoint Global and was developed for the emerging needs of FMCG retail clients and MR firms specialising in consumer purchasing behaviours. The company offers its My Surveys App free and gives businesses the option of embedding the technology in their own Apps or building Apps using its Open Source Software Development Kits (SDKs).

“Using OCR in conjunction with other features enables researchers to be highly responsive to incoming data so they can drill down to new levels and gain powerful customer insights.”, said Doug Morris, Chief Technology Officer at OnePoint Global.
